Father's Day
Happy Father's Day! Father's Day is here and it is time to think about my dad. Thankfully, and I am grateful to have my dad alive and apart of my life today. Not everybody can say that, and I hope to be saying that for many years to come. You know, my dad is a simple kind of guy, nothing flashy, hard worker, (well use to be) and as honest as they come. My dad has always been there for me, taking me places, having a catch in the back yard, watching me play sports and valiantly trying to teach me the right things in life. I have never ever heard a bad word come from his mouth. I have never seen him fight with my mother, argue maybe, but never fight. I commend him for that, because sometimes, till this day, I tell my mother to leave my dad alone, and mind you they are in their 70's. I give my dad alot of credit, married for over 55 years, 3 kids and 6 grandchildren. Although my dad is not a flashy big shot, he has the character to remember. When meeting my dad for the first time he will automatically leave you with an impression. Again not flashy, but a kind hearted, down to earth person who could care less about the nickel in his pocket, as long as there is happiness around him with his family. My dad treats everbody equal, loves his kids, his grandchildren and his step-grandchildren. He is a great guy to hang out with, enjoys a conversation, have a beer, a giggle and a laugh. I remember the trips to Yankee Stadium, trips to the beach, horseback riding, playing endless hours of horse shoes, and of course the dreaded belt on my fanny. Yes, my dad. I love him. Happy Fathers Day Dad, and thanks for just being you! |
