Successful Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Programs have exploded on the internet. There are thousands of people joining them every day. Amazon.com is probably the best example of such phenomenal success and now ebay has brought their own affiliate program in house. Affiliate who have a good grip on their programs are having tremendous success. If you are an affiliate, and are having success, you know what i am saying. if you are an affiliate and are not having the knod of success you envisioned, then this article is for you.

If the affiliate program is so popular and so widely available and booming like a mushroom...Why do most affiliate have a hard time making $100 per month? And in most cases, they are not even making $20 a month. And then it appears some never seem to have received a check, ever! Chances are, a very good chance, it's because they are not effective in their marketing campaign or they are not doing any marketing at all. Lets face it, no marketing...no traffic. You need to get your campaign out in fron of people. Your customer are not coming to you, so you must get out there to get your customer. I have had a retail business, brick and mortar store, and when times are good you lose sight of the importance of marketing your product. But believe me, when times are tough, you need to be creative in getting the foor traffic into your brick and mortar store. Well the online store is no different. When traffic is good to your sites, all is fine, but when traffic slows down, you best find a way to increase, not only the traffic, but the click troughs as well.

There are some affiliates who are making big bucks, large sums of money. These affiliates are the ones with an affiliate income of ($100,000 and over per year). There is also a big majority who still make a good income (around $10 000 to $75 000 a year). Of course the vast majority of affiliates will never make that much money, in fact they nothing. They fail miserably. They quickly learn that it takes a great deal of effort, time and talent. Remember what I alway say...If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. These words can not be any more accurate then just that...no plan equals failure. Too many people sign up to be an affilite and think...Bam!, money in the bank!. It does not work that way, but it can if you do it right.

So what is it that gets in the way for most affiliates?

THEY DON'T SET GOALS, REALISTIC, ACHIEVABLE GOALS!

Everybody I know, have come in contact with, or I have witnessed starting their own business, who have not doen their homework...FAILS!
Most people fail at anything and everything they do because most people don't have a clear vision of where they are heading. They don't take the time to learn and experiment. Once again I will repeat...If you fail To plan, then you plan to fail. In addition, when they learn about the work, effort and focus they need, they just give up too easily. As I tell my children...never, never, never give up!

Yes, it may feel "unproductive" to prepare and set up a system... But it's how the successful succeed.

The solution? Planning and learning. Learning and planning. Then do it all over again.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT AFFILIATE PROGRAM

Choosing the best companies is an art in itself. Choose affiliate programs that are already successful and well established such as ebay, Amazon or clickbank. Choose the one that offers good training, good marketing aids, good support and of couse a great product.

Successful affiliates select the best companies. They use new ideas and creativity to attract customers. They never give up, always looking for new traffic sources, products and items people want. Again, the do their home work, they learn their products and they plan their campaign.

DEVELOP A GOOD WEBSITE

Lot's of people don't know how to design a website. Or don't have the money to hire a webmaster. Even the ones who can design a website. They design poor content or poor design. Produce low value gateway pages. They use free web hosting. They don't master the search engine.

The solution? Take what you know, what you love, and turn it into a Theme-Based Content Site. Attract highly targeted, interested customers, provide solid value through content, then refer them to your affiliated merchants.

DRIVING TRAFFIC

Just like a department store, a grocery store, or any other brick and mortar location...you need traffic. Having lot's of traffic to your website is a big challenge. But it is essential to be successful. Or at least to make a reasonable amount of money.

You have to make your site "search engine friendly". You need content for the search engine to spider your website. Learn SEO, search engine optimization. Again here is the do your home work part...learn SEO, know it, breathe it and conquer it. SEO is always changing...stay with it.

You need to know how your webpage is indexed and how well it is ranked on the SE to better perform.

Do not stop at anything or be stisfied with a few good results, keep plugging, never give up, use every marketing method to drive traffic. And then use it to increase or strengthen your position in your campaign. Here are some methods you can try, but stay real, stay with in budget and stay with it...do not give up.

Writing Articles
Ezine Publishing
Newsletters
Banner Advertising
Viral Marketing (EBooks, Freeware etc.)
Offline as well. (Business Cards, Flyers, Radio Spots etc.)


CONCLUSION

Affiliate Programs are great. You can really make a substantial income at almost no cost. This is the simplest way to start a business. You can really succeed if you keep learning and experimenting.

Remember...If you fail to plan, then plan to fail.
