Understand SEO, Search Engine Optimization
The most confusing traffic generation strategy is Search Engine Optimization or SEO. There is so much dialog by so called gurus, that to people starting out, it can be very confusing, overwhelming and sickening...it will have you up at night. You will be in a total state of cunfusement. Lets try to unwrap all this dialog and break it down to simple to understand dialog. The first thing anybody needs to know, understand and come to grips with is that traffic from the search engines has more to do with demand than it does with keywords. Simply create a site with good content, easy for users to navigate, and to some extent get the word out across the internet...then you have struck the root of the SEO game. The search engines depend on relevant content from authoritative sources. Search engines are not looking to support webmasters playing the game, they want quality providers of content. There are literally millions of websites that get traffic from the major search engines that have been built by people that never had any intention of getting traffic. Think about that...millions of sites are getting the traffic with no effort on the site owners part. Think about all the sites from Blogger.com, MySpace.com and alot of the sites from colleges and universities that ranked extremely well, yet they are not created by design to get traffic. Quite simply they have good quality content created by people alot smarter than you and I. Perhaps I should only speak for myself, they are alot smarter than me. These sites get incredible rankings, that we can only dream of. The content is generally good, and individuals across the web like it enough to add it as a link or resource on their own sites. The very simple equation, Content and Links = Search Engine Traffic...period No magic, no simple route, no overnight success. Write some quality content, where in fact all the words count, not just keywords. The quality content published on your domain, and the quality links pointing to your domain, with a product in demand, and everything will be just fine. The traffic will flow. So to review what the search engines are reallt looking for, and to get the organic traffic you so desperately want:
1. Build your site visitor friendly...do not get too technical or hung up on keywords
2. Your on page factors should be the Title Tag, Text Content (quality articles), easy navigation, privacy policy and a site map.
3. Off page factors are incoming quality links. And that's it! A simple approach to SEO. Test it, try it and when you see the results you will begin to understan how simple the process can really be. Now, I am not saying there is no effort, or it happens overnight, but be patient, make a simple plan, work your plan and see for yourself.... |
